  • Pros:
    • Quick, compact release.
    • Ball placement is generally great.
    • Throws with good anticipation.
    • Pretty good diagnosing coverages and going through progressions; particularly high-low reads.
    • Tough to bring down in the pocket.
    • Does a great job of evading pressure and quickly resetting to make the throw.
    • Not too fast, but an instinctive runner with strong lower body.
  • Cons:
    • Has to gear up to push the ball downfield.
    • Ball sometimes just dies in the air.
    • Medicals may be a serious concern for him.
  • General:
    • Is a lefty, so that might change how your prioritize your linemen.
  • Overall Take:
    • Pro-readiness: 2nd (out of 9)
    • Potential: 3rd
    • Overall: 2nd
    • Number Grade (out of 100): 92
    • As long as Tua is healthy, there’s really no reason he shouldn’t be at minimum an above-average starting QB. The only real flaw in his game is that his arm strength isn’t very good. It doesn’t really limit his deep ball outside of slowing his release down a little bit, and his anticipation helps to offset the effects of it on the shorter throws, but it does mean he needs larger passing windows than say, Jordan Love. Tua doesn’t have Russell Wilson’s speed, but he has the same combination of play-making ability and accuracy and should be a very dangerous QB in the NFL.
  • NFL Comparisons:
    • Most Likely Comp: Poor Man’s Russell Wilson
    • Peak Comp: Drew Brees
