Scouting Report
- Like Rosen, he can make the subtle side-steps to elude pressure. I think he’s a bit more comfortable with pass-rushers around him than Rosen is.
- Ball velocity is lackluster IMO, particularly when throwing outside the hashes.
- Puts too much air under his deep ball, often underthrowing them as a result. Unlike Rosen, I have questions about his ability to make these throws consistently against more athletic secondaries in the NFL.
- Ball placement is adequate; I wouldn’t say it’s good nor is it bad.
- Has a tendency to forget about his footwork on the quick stuff, which can lead to accuracy issues.
- Doesn’t anticipate openings but is accurate enough to take advantage of the openings when he sees them.
- A lot of one-read and half-field reads.
- I think his physical tools suggest he’d be a better fit in a short/intermediate based offense rather than the vertical offense he played in in college.
- Overall take:
- Pro-readiness (ranking out of 11): 6th
- Potential: 8th
- Overall: 7th
- Number Grade (out of 100): 74
- I see this draft as having a Big 5, and Rudolph is not included in that. To me, he’s an okay floor and a low ceiling prospect. I see him ending up a backup QB or a low-tier starter.
- Most likely comp: Nathan Peterman
- Peak: Elvis Grbac
