Kyle Lauletta

Scouting Report

  • Can buy time with his legs but he won’t really hurt you in terms of running.
  • Very strange study in terms of arm strength; he throws with decent velocity under 15ish yards. His deep ball velocity is a major problem though; enough so that I think he’ll only hurt a defense over the top if there’s literally no safety help at all.
  • Ball placement is very good; he and Mayfield are the most accurate passers in the class IMO
  • Good footwork and quick, compact release allows him to get the ball to his target pretty quickly despite ordinary velocity.
  • A lot of half-field reads
  • Makes anticipatory throws on hitches and some outs, but doesn’t really anticipate WRs coming open over the middle on post routes for example. I’d say he has an understanding of the timing of routes rather than anticipating a guy coming open against the zone.
  • Tore his ACL at Richmond
  • Overall take:
    • Pro-readiness (ranking out of 11): 7th
    • Potential: 6th
    • Overall: 6th
    • Number Grade (out of 100): 79
    • I prefer Lauletta over Rudolph. I think Lauletta has a chance to develop into a long-term averageish starting QB. Arm strength is a question for both of them, but with Lauletta’s ball-placement, quick release, and feel for WR timing, he has a much better chance of overcoming his limited arm strength than Rudolph does IMO.
    • Most likely comp: Colt McCoy
    • Peak: Alex Smith
